About Mick Marshall
Mick Marshall has over 45 years’ experience in the picture frame and mouldings industry and has set up this business in Hull to be able to share his talent and wealth of experience in the local area. Below is a snapshot into the life of Mick Marshall.
1962 – 1965: Studied at Barnsley Art School – received prize for the most outstanding artist of the year.
1965 – 1968: Studied at Coventry College of Art and Design, studied graphic design and illustration.
1968 – 1969: Moved to London to pursue a career in Freelancing. His work includes illustrations of The Beatles yellow submarine film, illustration for hotels in the UK, USA, South Africa, South of France and Saudi Arabia also drawing out plans for the Architects.
1969 – 1974: Started work with frame maker Alfred Hecht on Kings Road, Chelsea where he met and produced frames for top artists of the day including Francis Bacon, Henry Moore, Graham Sutherland, David Hockney, John Piper and many more. It was here that Mick learned how to carve, gild and mount cut all finer crafts of the trade. Within 5 years became frame manager of the company.
1974 – 1980: After gaining many years experience, Mick decided to start his own company, which rapidly expanded and within 3 years employed more than 60 workers. The firm became a major manufacturer of picture frames and re-production pub mirrors.
1980 – To Date: Mick Marshall has continued to apply his skill and knowledge throughout the years to the picture framing industry. He has been an integral part of several successful companies supplying large quantities of high quality frames and mouldings to the UK and many international customers. His years of experience and knowledge of Art and framing have earned him an outstanding reputation in the industry. He has now started this new venture to share with you his passion and creativity.
